INTIMATE SURGERY

Intimate aesthetic surgery is the set of procedures concerning the external genital organs and includes the remodeling of small and large lips, the remodeling of the pubic region by lipoaspiration and the infiltrative and regenerative medicine of the genital area (see also chapter “Man ” for male genitalia).

Reduction of labia minora, also called nymphoplasty or labioplasty, is the procedure designed to shorten labia minora protruding outside the labia majora, and therefore can be combined with labia majora augmentation. In addition to being unaesthetic, the prominence of labia minora can interfere with sexual practice or sports.

The procedure is a day-surgery, under local anesthesia with sedation and involves the surgical excision of the excessive parts of labia minora, followed by the suture with absorbable stitches. For the first 7-10 swelling can be noticed. Sexual activity can be resumed after three weeks. Scars are definitely not visible.

Remodeling of labia majora includes both reduction nymphoplasty, mainly through lipoaspiration, and augmentation nymphoplasty, i.e. lipofilling-based augmentation (reinjection of lipoaspirated fat).

Lipofilling also improves labia majora with a wrinkled appearance, no longer young, thanks to the regenerative and rejuvenating potential of stem cells associated with fat. These procedures are performed under local anesthesia with sedation as a day case and leave almost invisible scars. The postoperative course is quite similar to that described for the reduction of labia minora.

For temporary corrections, hyaluronic acid fillers can be successfully employed, which can restore volume and tone to the labia majora.
